David Cameron, then and now

It was great to see that David Cameron, in his press conference about the floods this week reasserted the government’s commitment on climate change. But the press seems to have such a short memory.

Just compare his timid words: “..whatever your view about climate change, it makes sense to mitigate it and act to deal with that weather” with they way he talked in 2006 as leader of the opposition. Just watch this very short clip.

I agree very much with Craig Bennett of Friends of the Earth who wrote today that if we were facing a major terrorist threat the government would not be responding “with such astounding apathy”.

Mr Cameron, we really need you to change tone now, and speak truthfully like you did in 2006 about climate change – not the way you are speaking now.
